For immediate release:
Newburyport Native announces run for US Congress.
Samson Racioppi grew up in Newburyport Massachusetts and has resided in Salisbury since 1999. He is fiercely devoted to the well-being of this country, and wants to continue serving its people. He served as a Cavalry Scout in the US Army from 2005 to 2008, and spent a year deployed in Africa.
Samson believes that we should strive for a lean, mean, and efficient government--as opposed to the overbearing and authoritarian beast it has become. We are the shining beacon of light and freedom in the world, but that light is dimming. We cannot let it be extinguished.
Number 1 on his list of priorities is foreign policy. We need to be building bridges and improving relationships with our neighbors, not burning them. Samson will pursue an absolute non-intervention policy with the world, and encourage free trade. Countries who trade together do not go to war. Walls are not the solution.
The opiate crisis must be stopped. It requires a new approach--something our current leadership does not understand. Too many families are suffering because of drug addiction; many others are suffering from our government's response to the crisis. I will fight to end the war on drugs, which harms not only our own citizens, but also places like Latin America where we militarize police forces. We need to focus on healing, not the continuation of suffering.
Our national debt is an existential threat to the safety and security of our future. Our household budgets must be balanced for us to survive, yet our government gets a blank check. They use that blank check to build up our military and line their own pockets. Of course, we use that military to keep this unsustainable system afloat. We must make every effort to address debt, otherwise we will continue witnessing conflict after conflict overseas.
We must preserve our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The erosion of our civil liberties in the name of safety and security is unacceptable, and we were warned by our founding fathers about this very issue. We cannot let that document and its underlying message slip away.
There are many other issues he will fight for on your behalf. Every day he walks past homeless people, many of them veterans. This is unacceptable on so many levels. How can we let those who answered their country's call just wither away on the cold, hard streets?
Samson will fight to end corruption in all its forms. He will be at every vote, he will speak out against every injustice. He is honored and humbled to be your public servant.
